EDU 6384: Teaching and Learning with Technology
This course prepares teachers to integrate technology into their teaching in a way that enhances learning based on current research and the application of a structured model for technology integration. Students learn about the National Educational Technology Standards and 21st-century skills and explore a variety of technologies for developing and applying these skills. In addition, students learn about legal and social issues related to technology integration and plan for the integration of assistive technology to address the needs of diverse learners. |

When: The course will take place on Wednesdays from 5:15 to 8:05 PM and will include both in-person sessions at SMU and virtual sessions. Spring classes at SMU begin in January 22, 2020.

- Apply the knowledge and skills included in the ISTE Technology Applications Standards for teachers.
- Demonstrate knowledge of educational technology concepts and appropriately use hardware and software in the classroom environment.
- Effectively employ a technology integration model to implement educational technology to enhance learning.
- Integrate various educational technologies into their teaching to address differentiation and support diverse learners.
- Discuss and address technology-related issues, e.g., equity, access, and pertinent laws and issues; model ethical use of and respect for intellectual property, e.g., copyright, fair use, patent, and trademarks.
- Plan for the integration of assistive technologies and accessible design; identify and suggest appropriate information resources to support student-centered decisions about technology-based solutions.
