Welcome to the first edition of the PL Lighthouse!
This monthly email blast and webpage has been designed to serve much like a lighthouse, to serve as a way forward and help in navigating through the busy school year. Nothing else speaks of safety in the face of adversity and challenge quite like the lighthouse.
PL Monthly Huddle
Every month, a week after the PL Lighthouse goes out, we'll host the monthly huddle meeting via Zoom. During this time, we'll answer any questions and provide additional supports related to that monthly blast. While it's not required that you join the Zoom Huddle for the entire hour, know that it's time dedicated for you to join informally to get answers to your questions and/or request additional supports needed. September's PL Monthly Huddle is scheduled for Monday, September 10th from 11:00AM-12:00PM. Calendar invites have been sent to PL campus coordinators and main contacts, but know that anyone with questions is welcome to join using the Zoom link: https://zoom.us/j/9139807686.

Required action items have been highlighted in pink in the announcements that follow.

MAP Testing
Thank you for ensuring that your campus MAP administrators attended training held in the past two weeks. We had 100% participation across all PL cohort schools! To access the original email regarding MAP this year, click here. Online modules have been created for you (and feel free to share with teachers as you see fit) via Unified Classroom. Click here to join the course and use the code: 34QF6. If you have any MAP related questions or would like support on the first day you're testing this fall, please reach out to Ciane Grossman at [email protected].
Unified Classroom PL Cohort Support
If you're interested in learning more about Unified Classroom and how to use it for your campus learning management system (LMS) this year, plan to attend a workshop for PL cohort schools on Wednesday, September 19th from 8:30 AM-12:00 PM held at PL Headquarters (9400 North Central Expressway, Suite 415). To register, sign up here (once you RSVP, it will trigger a calendar invite).

Software Usage Request
[Action item] Please help us take inventory of all of the software being used across the cohort by sharing what your campus uses or wishes to use by sharing/updating your campus tab in this spreadsheet here. Kristen is in the process of working alongside the IT department to help ensure existing and approved software programs that are compatible with Clever and Unified Classroom are working. And, also making sure that all data sharing agreement and legal agreements are updated and in place. Please update no later than Thursday, September 20th and/or add to this spreadsheet as they come up.

PL Educator Tours
We are in the process of finalizing final dates for our Dallas ISD PL Educator Tours for this school year. By this Friday, September 7th, we'll have updated the information and Eventbrite registrations for monthly visits at www.thepltoolbox.com/educatortours.

In previous years, the central PL team has managed all registration and communication with visitors to alleviate the amount of time spent coordinating visits and responding to requests. We're happy to and plan on continuing this support, but feel free to reach out to Kristen if you want to discuss more. Each month we host PL Educator Tours at a different campus and open registration to anyone who signs up to attend. These are designed for teachers/administrators both internally and nationally to come see the amazing things happening across the cohort. To date we've hosted 563 visitors since 2015! If anyone reaches out to visit, please feel free to share the link above and ask them to join on the pre-scheduled tour(s) for your campus.
PL Impact Report
In May 2018, we released our first-ever PL Impact Report. To learn more and read the full impact report, check out www.thepltoolbox.com/impactreport. In the next coming weeks, the central PL team will deliver printed copies for you to share with your staff and/or have available in the office for parents and/or visitors to campus.
