October 2022 Lighthouse

Welcome to the October Edition of the PL Lighthouse!

​This monthly email blast and webpage has been designed to serve much like a lighthouse, to serve as a way forward and help in navigating through the busy school year. Nothing else speaks of safety in the face of adversity and challenge quite like the lighthouse. ​

Design Excursions kick off this month! Teams will meet by in Design Excursion groups on the dates below. PL Coaches leading the excursion will reach out to QBs with final details.

The Ideate Module will go live after your team kicks off, no later than October 31st!

PL Principal Huddle | Thursday, October 6th, 9:00-10:00 AM

The first PL Principal Huddle is this Thursday, October 6th, from 9:00-10:00 AM via Zoom. During this time we'll use a design method to explore the 2.0 domain of The PL Classroom. Bonus, this design method can be applied in lots of scenarios! Calendar invites were sent out to principals who selected this support on the Menu of Supports. If you did not receive a calendar invite and wish to attend, please email Lily, [email protected]. 

Quarterback [Instructional] Huddle | Thursday, October 27th

This month we will meet in person at a campus--Thanks LK Hall and IDEA for hosting! During our time together we will walk classrooms using the BL Progressions. A calendar invite was sent out with the huddle location and time. Please note that Elementary and Secondary QBs are meeting at separate locations and different start/end times.

Readiness Continuum 2.0 Published!

Thank you for all the feedback on the Readiness Continuum 2.0 over the past eight weeks and at Design Studio last week. We are excited to announce that the Readiness Continuum 2.0 is officially published! Below we have provided a link to the Google Slide deck and PDF version. We will also be updating the Readiness Continuum PL Toolbox pages this week. Look out for a blog post coming soon as well with insights and rationale behind the changes.

Design Studio Follow Up

What a great half day of learning together! Thanks to everyone for prioritizing your time last Tuesday to work with your team. Below are a couple of reminders on action items from the workshop:

• If you did not already, please complete the closing survey.
• Reprioritization, implementation intentions, and implementation portfolio completion is due no later than October 14th. Please email your PL coach when this task is completed. For each domain you need to complete:
  • Implementation intention
  • Baseline evidence
  • September self-rating.
• [Lantern Prototype Participants only] Sustainability Project Proposals are due no later than October 20th

PL Lite-Brite Release | October 12th

The Lite-Brite is a PL practitioner facing newsletter that spotlights PL strategies and opportunities to spark implementation around the Dallas ISD PL cohort.  This newsletter will be shared exclusively to the PL Collaborative Schoology Group members beginning October 12th.

To ensure that your teachers don’t miss out, please share the following link with your staff, if you have not already done so.  This link will give them step by step instructions for how to join their respective collaborative groups in Schoology.
